Our Mission

At Paws of Duty, our mission is twofold:

First, we aim to reduce suicide rates among Veterans, Active Duty Military, and First Responders by promoting mental health, wellness, and healing through canine-assisted therapy and engaging activities such as hunting, fishing, training, and other outdoor experiences.

Second, we work to rehome started hunting and working dogs with our Heroes through foster and adoption programs, creating lifelong, mutually beneficial bonds between them and their canine companions.

Founder Bio

Kevin is a proud Marine Corps veteran who has dedicated his entire adult life to serving the Department of Defense and the nation. Hailing from the heart of the Midwest, Kevin comes from a long, distinguished lineage of Marines and combat veterans, carrying forward a legacy of service, resilience, and unwavering commitment to country.

Each year, Kevin returns home to the Midwest to hunt with his family, a tradition that keeps him grounded and connected to his roots. A lifelong outdoorsman, he is deeply involved in the hunting dog community and is an active member of several prestigious organizations, including the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA), the National Shoot to Retrieve Association (NASTRA), and various local clubs. His passion for training gun dogs and promoting responsible dog ownership extends to his work in dog adoption and rescue, where he helps give working dogs a second chance at life and purpose.

Kevin’s greatest mission, however, lies in supporting his fellow veterans. He is a staunch advocate for preventing veteran suicide and believes strongly that reconnecting with the outdoors—through hunting, camaraderie, and purpose-driven activity—is one of the most effective ways to help veterans heal from PTSD and other service-related challenges. Whether he’s leading a dog through the field or mentoring a fellow veteran, Kevin brings compassion, grit, and a deep sense of duty to everything he does.

The support from Paws of Duty has transformed my life and helped me find joy by getting outdoors again.

A golden Labrador retriever is lying down on a stone-paved surface. The dog is surrounded by people whose lower bodies are visible. One person is wearing a kilt, thick blue socks, and brown hiking boots, while another is in jeans with white sneakers. There is a black suitcase with wheels on the right side.

My gun-dog and the training groups PoD introduced me to has been a lifeline, providing comfort and companionship during my healing journey.
