Serving those who’ve served.
Supporting veterans and first responders through canine-assisted therapy for mental health and wellness.
Our Mission Matters
Since the beginning of mankind, man’s best friend has worked alongside humans to hunt, gather, protect, and increase the overall well-being of their upright counterparts. There’s few things in the world that can bring one more joy than watching a sporting-dog they’ve trained work a field in the chase of wild game. We seek to spread this freedom to both our heroes and their four-legged friends.
At Paws of Duty, our mission is two parted; to combat the suicide rates of Veterans, Active Duty Military, and First Responders by promoting mental health, wellness and healing to these Heroes through canine-assisted therapy and activities such as hunting, fishing, training, and other outdoor activities. The second part of our mission is to rehome started hunting and working dogs with Heroes through foster and adoption to create a mutually beneficial bond that will last a lifetime.
Have you ever seen that corny bumper sticker stating, “WHO SAVED WHO?” Well, that resonates with us here at PoD.
We support Veterans, Active Duty Military, and First Responders living with physical or mental disabilities—particularly those diagnosed with or experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress (PTSD), anxiety, depression, job-related stress, or traumatic brain injuries—by pairing them with a working dog to accompany them on their path to healing. Through this partnership, they begin to rediscover their sense of joy, hope, confidence, and purpose.
